"Happy Planet"
favorite childhood TV series
Plot I still remember:
Ding Kaile used alien tech to revive frogs in the cafeteria
Can you imagine frog legs resurrecting from plates
and hopping densely on the road?
haha
As a kid I wasn't scared
Now it'd trigger trypophobia
That show and the "Young Pioneers" magazine
together sparked my interest in computers

Then the village still had a postman biking street to street
rear seat a green bag full of letters and papers
Next-door neighbor was a village gentry type
bought a paper and read on a net bed under the carambola tree
I got a book-order booklet
check what journals/books to subscribe
with price details

I really wanted electronics/tech/science books
but knew the family was poor—TV was watched at neighbors'
Not single-parent but only Mom at home
early out late back logging in the wild
So this
I never told Mom as a kid

Actually if I'd said, Mom would have agreed
Price wasn't high
Just a poor kid
too well-behaved to ask
That shaped my character base
afraid of troubling others, dare not ask
honest clumsy people-pleaser, with high-sensitive fine thoughts
quick to spot even slight malice and jokes
Leading to never having truly affirming friends nearby

School-age clique friends
I couldn't really blend either
Boy groups rough and loud
love random jokes/mocking clothes manners etc.
to me all bullying
Mostly alone
self-protection maybe
