Now I have time and energy to relearn
early messy knowledge
swallowed whole for
exam education and survival/eating
From young I knew I couldn't be a teacher
one reason
no deep thorough grasp of knowledge
Now with AI
depth and thoroughness must rise
or I can't face myself
Can't fool myself either
AI blocked the half-assed excuse too
These two days watching the latest sci-fi epic The Wandering Earth / Project Save
moved by alien mechanic Rocky and the author's imagination
Will read the original when I can
New thoughts on what an engineer is
Repair, combine, build
Make tools fast under limited resources
That's senior engineer quality
Bell Labs Unix team I just read about was the same
Computing pioneers creating epoch-making work on limited hardware
Learned Caltech Professor von Kármán's students
helped humanity evolve from propeller flight
to jet and space age
Amazed by genius while
noting my own ordinary
The unbridgeable gap with genius is
talent-born intuition finding breakthroughs fast
He said a famous line
Innovation often comes from individuals not systems
Qian Xuesen was also his student
