This laptop holds so many memories
Lenovo Xiaoxin series 16 PRO 2021
From the start to the end of my digital-nomad years
As a heavy productivity tool
almost 3 years through wind and rain
across a dozen-plus cities with me
witnessing several romances or almost-relationships
Object triggers memory—first meeting Xiao Lai
at a mall near her place
Bringing a laptop on dates was standard those years
Screen and keyboard filthy
I asked if there was a computer mall nearby
to clean the dust for me
...
Delivered software solutions for remote work to dozens of clients
Busiest day: 4 different client projects at once
Sometimes under 5 hours sleep,
hard-earned money
Hourly started at 500 RMB per 8 hours
By stacking projects and compressing real build time
daily output could hit ~1000 RMB
Peak single-client rate 120 RMB/hour
Later mostly long-term monthly fixed pay
This machine probably created ~500k RMB income
5k purchase cost, labor as leverage
~100x return—maybe the best-value consumer purchase I've made
Photo: original keyboard baseplate removed after repair
A hinge issue once left the screen dark
Official Lenovo after-sales, out of warranty, 800+
replaced with a new baseplate—full revive, still works
After I switched to MacBook
it gathered dust in a Shenzhen rental wardrobe drawer
This part I've kept nearly 2 years since removal
Brought it home to Shunde these days
My 3-year-old niece is crazy about electronics
Writing this I remembered she was the one who snapped it haha
Perfect closed loop
