Genspark's sharp reply (from my research on interview.io—eye-opening how far behind domestic hiring systems are)
Main phenomena:
- Leetcode/八股 interviews vs credential systems
- Outsourcing stigma vs contractor protections
- Overtime by default
- Side hustles and personal media banned
- Internal dating banned
- Hard to sue the company vs able to bankrupt them
- Taking leave feels like a crime
- Path-dependent backgrounds vs allowing failure and judging present state
- Attitude toward gaps
- Stable, useful, obedient, not picky = good traits
So many cultural values are inverted—damn
The root split is how "employment" is defined:
Silicon Valley view: I buy 40 hours/week of your output; the rest is yours—learn, found a company, lie flat, none of my business as long as you don't harm the company.
Domestic view: I pay your annual salary; you belong to the company; I have a say over all 168 hours/week—when you sleep after work, what you do weekends, who you date.
Yet most domestic companies that can afford high pay put side-hustle clauses in contracts. Paradox: those who can pay well forbid side work; those who allow side work can't pay well.
