I figured it out and let it go
Why interviews wreck my mood and quiet life so badly
Because the standard interview process doesn't show my strengths
My level is senior
Closer to a project-partner role at a startup
Traditional interviews try to summarize, in about two hours of talk,
a candidate who doesn't fit the usual frames
Information-theoretically there's an impossible limit
Trying to compress a mass of practice, thinking models, and how the cognition formed into a tiny context
will distort and lose a lot of insight
Under that mechanism interviewers also can't see the candidate's edge
It hardens into cold titles and numbers
And eventually into blind brand-trust, hiring a pile of PPT presenters
I think
the interview that fits me
should be a presentation I define and lead
From 1D verbal answers to a 2D whiteboard demo
Hand-drawn thinking models, architecture diagrams, the whole-picture view
Industry thinking broken into structured maps
For example:
- What is a company buying in a senior role? Experience and judgment. Then break that down
- Learning is how information enters the brain. How do you raise the conversion rate and speed of that path? The dropbrain project: recall → Feynman → Socrates
- Why does solution selection matter more than code in the AI coding era?
- How I reshape my own brain by borrowing how LLMs and agents work — most human heads should take cues from LLMs
I haven't seen a company use this (it would be an exception)
But a recent referral clearly has a hidden opening for it
My hole card:
if the normal process still can't decide on an offer
I request a custom interview I design
I'll do a presentation
Dissect thinking models live
Show how I define, think, trade off, implement, and iterate a problem
A closed loop of consistency, completeness, coverage
That's my core competitiveness
So no need to agonize
It's a referral
You have no obvious hard flaws
There's little reason for them to refuse this extra round
The cost is almost zero
This is the last card
If you still don't win after playing it
then really don't blame yourself
A senior candidate cannot be clearly summarized
by a few hours of interview and a few pages of resume
You can't compress them into a simple definition
Until large-scale AI matching interviews mature
it's reasonable to ask the company to meet the candidate halfway
instead of the candidate passively obeying a standardized filter
The culture of the companies and teams I want
means a match will support this ask
If they don't, it's not a match
Simple, efficient, no inner grinding
Treat this as the symbolic closing whistle of these months of job hunting
So even without a result
don't grind yourself down
The mechanism doesn't fit you
Good things take work
Keep arming yourself and raising transparency
so screening happens before you sit down
and the interview becomes a backup for confirming basics
Real intent screening happens before the interview
Companies should think about raising organizational transparency
Better still if they offered an interviewer agent
My personal digital-twin agent chatting with their interviewer agent a few times would already show the match
That's the painless interview mechanism that actually fits me and doesn't wreck my head
